Jennifer (Runnergirl)
I have always been active in sports and recreation. I started running and playing soccer at a young age and continued competing through college. My participation in athletics inspired me to become a personal trainer.
Even though I enjoy participating in sports, I do not really enjoy the physical work it takes to get my body in good enough shape to be able to participate safely and to excel in my activities. Exercise is hard for me to do and I have to talk myself into doing it everyday (and have had to my whole life). I also rely on the support of others to help me be successful.
I received my bachelor’s degree at Weber State University in Lifestyle Management with an emphasis in fitness and sports. My junior year in college I became a Certified Health Fitness Specialist through the American College of Sports Medicine. I have been a personal trainer now for 14 years. I have worked with healthy and diseased populations including elderly, pregnancy, youth, athletes, obesity and the disabled. I enjoy helping people change their lives and reaping the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle.

Believe or not I too starting running and playing soccer at a young age (age four). I got it all out. So I don't need to do it anymore.
Anyway, my father got all of his 11 kids to play soccer as he helped start the soccer league in our community. Of course he coached us all. He also paid us a dime for every mile we ran. I remember days when I would run 6 miles in a day as a young child to get enough money to then run up to the ice-cream shop and buy a lemon custard double dip cone. I continued running and playing soccer throughout high school and beyond. However I am currently stuck on a plateau and can't seem to get off of my current fitness level (THE BED).
Now with this blog I hope to advance my fitness to the next level (DOING SOMETHING).
I graduated from BYU in Recreation Administration and currently work as a Recreation Director. I hope to instill in all a desire to have an active lifestyle, especially within our youth. I hope people will gain the skills needed to be active, whether it is playing baseball or hiking in the mountains.
I enjoy basketball, volleyball, soccer, swimming, running as well as hiking and mountain biking.

Exercise is one of my mental outlets and it has been a major part of my life since I was very young. I played soccer and ran track for many years and now my body can't handle those things. I currently enjoy walking as fast as my legs will let me go, biking, weight-lifting, and I am learning to love swimming.
I am passionate about exercise but it is hard for me also. On days that my alarm goes off at 4:45am to go swim, I really wonder why I keep doing it and think that I must be losing my mind. It is really hard mentally and physically, but the feeling of accomplishment afterwards is worth it. There is something to say about accomplishing something hard!
I got my bachelors degree in Lifestyle Management from Weber State University and then got my personal training certificate from American College of Sports Medicine as a Health Fitness Specialist in 1996. I have trained in bits and pieces throughout the years but recently have been able to really jump into it, as my youngest is now in school. I love to see how healthier living can really change lives.
